In early winter, the sky in Canberra, the capital city of southern Australia, was exceptionally blue and bathed in bright sunshine. The Southern Cross flag waved in the wind, while the Five-Star Red Flag flew high. On June 15th, Mr. Chen Yunguo, Chairman of the Victorian Chinese Community Council, Executive Vice Chairman of the World Fuzhou Association, and President of the Melbourne World Fuzhou Association, led a group of over 700 members from the Victorian Chinese community. They traveled by bus, filled with songs, laughter, and joy, on their way to Canberra to warmly welcome Chinese Premier Li Qiang’s visit to Australia.
Over the past few days, the council members of the Fuzhou Association, led by Executive President Li Zongqing, worked together to ensure the success of this event. Some were responsible for hanging banners, others for distributing flags, organizing security, or managing guest reception. Everyone, from top to bottom, worked diligently and collaboratively to contribute to welcoming Premier Li’s visit to Australia.
At around 4 p.m. on the afternoon of the 16th, as Premier Li’s motorcade passed by the Fuzhou Association’s welcoming team, everyone was filled with excitement. They waved the national flags of China and Australia in their hands and continuously shouted, “Welcome, welcome, a warm welcome!” The chants and cheers echoed one after another, creating a lively and magnificent scene. It fully demonstrated the spirit and enthusiasm of the Fuzhou community and showcased the deep affection of Fuzhou residents in Melbourne for their homeland.
In the evening, Chairman and President Chen Yunguo was invited to attend the banquet hosted by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to welcome Premier Li Qiang. They also took a group photo together to commemorate the occasion.
Though the homeland is far, summer brings the beauty of emerald bamboo and layered green peaks. In the present land, winter reveals red plums with frosted elegance. With Premier Li’s visit, China-Australia relations will gradually warm. We sincerely wish for mutual development and progress between China and Australia, and enduring friendship between the peoples of both nations!

Yaoying Lin shared how she managed academic pressure while preparing for the International Baccalaureate (IB), maintained consistent self-motivation, and struck a balance between life and study. She particularly emphasized the importance of effective course planning and study methods, which not only enhanced her learning efficiency but also helped her maintain a positive mindset.

On May 4, 2024, more than 20 young representatives of the Melbourne World Fuqing Fellowships Association participated in the official establishment ceremony of the Youth Association of the Victorian Federation of Chinese Associations in Melbourne, Australia, organized by the Victorian Federation of Chinese Associations.
Since its establishment in 1979, the Victorian Federation of Chinese Associations in Australia has developed into a unified organization of Victorian Chinese associations with more than 180 member associations. It is committed to uniting the Chinese, fighting for their rights and interests, inheriting Chinese culture and providing services to the community.
At the founding meeting, Chen Yunguo, the 32nd chairman of the Victorian Federation of Chinese Associations in Australia, said that in order to unite the strength of young Chinese and provide a development platform, he decided to establish a youth Association.
He believes that this marks a new stage for the Chinese community. Fang Xinwen, the new consul General in Melbourne, expressed his support for the establishment of the YMCA, emphasizing that youth are the hope for the future of the country and the nation. He promised that the Consulate General would continue to support the development of Huashe’s cause.
At the founding meeting, Chairman Chen Yunguo awarded President Wu Chunjiang an appointment letter. Melbourne World Fuqing Association – The Melody of Hometown, A Visible Nostalgia
The character “福” (Fu), symbolizing blessing, is one of the six most auspicious symbols in Chinese culture, embodying the nation’s most heartfelt wishes since ancient times. Many city landmarks feature the character “福,” but among all these cities, only Fuqing has become the sole county-level region in the nation to embody the “Three Blessings” after 1,300 years of historical accumulation. Born in this blessed land, the people of Fuqing have, since the era of reform and opening-up, carried their unique “福” to the world, bridging Melbourne and Fuqing—two cities thousands of miles apart and rich in different cultures. Today, Fuqing natives are visible across various industries in Melbourne, building their place in a multicultural Australia with their intelligence and culture alongside other Chinese Australians.
As the end of 2023 approaches, Fuqing natives who have worked hard all year reunited on Sunday, December 10th, at Ruffey Lake Park for a BBQ gathering to celebrate Christmas with their families. Under the guidance of President Chen Yunguo and Executive President Li Zongqing, and with the leadership of Executive Vice President He Guangping, Secretary-General Pan Riming, and the active participation of all board members, this event was successfully held. Its goal was to unite Fuqing compatriots, strengthen community bonds, expand information networks, and promote the well-being of fellow members.
The festivities began at 11 a.m., with tables laden with a dazzling array of delicacies, including roast lamb, grilled shrimp, and barbecued beef, showcasing the charm of Chinese culinary culture. This feast, available from the start of the event, was made possible thanks to the tireless efforts of association members such as Lin Kai, Chen Zhenqi, Ji Ying, Xue Baoying, Lin Fang, He Guangping, Pan Riming, Lin Youjin, Huang Shuibing, Zhou Jinzhu, Chen Yueshui, Chen Dan, and Lu Hao, who arrived at the venue as early as 6 a.m. to prepare.
As everyone enjoyed the delicious food, Secretary-General Pan announced the start of the lucky draw. Prizes ranged from wines and baijiu for adults to Lego sets for children, showcasing the organizers’ thoughtful planning. Special thanks were given to President Chen Yunguo, Vice Presidents Huang Shuibing and Lin Fang, and member Lin Jiarong for providing the raffle prizes. Established in 1997, the Melbourne World Fuqing Association has, for 25 years, upheld the values of “community, shared heritage, kinship, and hometown spirit.” It has actively united Fuqing natives and participated in broader Chinese community activities. Fuqing natives now thrive across various industries in Melbourne, from real estate and finance to dining and construction. Their presence is evident at nearly every Chinese community event, a testament to the association’s profound impact and influence.

It’s a winter moon in Tazhou, and night is beginning to fall. On June 28, 2023, the banquet hall of the Tazhou Hotel was brightly lit and full of friends. Amidst the sound of gongs and drums, the dancing of lions, and a warm atmosphere of joy, the Tasmanian branch of the Melbourne World Fuqing Fellow Association was officially established.
Attending today’s conference were the president, Vice-president and some members of the Melbourne Fuqing Fellowships Association, members of the preparatory group of the Tazhou Branch, and some Fuqing townspeople in Tazhou, with a total of more than 100 people. The meeting was chaired by He Fei. Chen Yunguo, President of the Melbourne Fuqing Association of Fellow Countrymen, and Master Wang Xinde, Permanent Honorary Chairman of the Tazhou Federation of Overseas Chinese and Tazhou Buddhist Institute, delivered speeches at the meeting one after another.
